Francophone education

Francophone education

Bilingualism is an invaluable advantage that will benefit a person throughout their life. This is why several programs are in place to allow our students to have a perfect command of both official languages.

Whether your child needs support in French or English, we will be able to provide them with the necessary resources to help them reach their full potential.

Francization

The francization program is intended for predominantly anglophone children. It allows them to acquire the language skills necessary to function in a French-speaking school and to fully integrate socially and culturally as French-speaking citizens in their community.

Francization is offered in an inclusive environment, inside the classrooms.

The teacher adapts his teaching strategies according to the level and needs of the students. To do this, it may have recourse to support in human, technical or educational resources from the school board.

An annual assessment of the child’s French skills determines their eligibility for the program and specifies the francization programming that is appropriate for them. The FrancoSud is committed to always informing parents of this process.

Francization is offered in an inclusive environment, even inside the classrooms.

The teacher adapts his teaching strategies according to the level and needs of the students, ranging from support to development. To do this, he may have recourse to support in terms of human, technical or educational resources from the School Board.

Several francization resources are available on the Alberta Education website.

English as a second language

Students for whom English is not their first language may benefit from the ESL program. This program allows them to enrich their vocabulary and acquire a full command of English until they can follow the regular English Language Arts program.
