REGISTRATION
Our schools are closed for the summer but it is possible to submit an online application.
IMPORTANT: Responses to applications submitted during the summer will only be communicated after August 20th.
All applications must be submitted electronically via the SchoolEngage module, as paper forms are no longer available. Before starting the application process, make sure to follow these steps:
1. ELIGIBILITY TO FRANCOPHONE EDUCATION
Eligibility to Francophone education is governed by section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, be sure to visit this page before submitting a registration request.
2. AGE OF ENTRY
A child must be 5 years old by December 31 of the year they enter kindergarten. To enter kindergarten in September 2024, your child must have been born between January 1 and December 31, 2019.
3. SCHOOL CHOICE
Students must attend the school that is associated with their place of residence. In the City of Calgary, families can choose between a public school or a Catholic school.
Please refer to the attendance area maps to find the school associated with your place of residence.
4. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
You will need some documents in PDF or image format to complete your registration request. Make sure you have them on hand before starting the process.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Proof of child’s age and legal name
- The following documents are accepted:
- Birth certificate
- Adoption certificate
- Study permit (Visa)
- Canadian Citizenship, Immigration or permanent residency documents.
- The following documents are accepted:
- Proof of parent’s Alberta Residency. The document must:
- Indicate the name of the parent/guardian who lives with the child;
- Be dated within the last 6 months; et
- Provide an Alberta address (must match the child’s residential address)
- The following documents are accepted:
- Utility bill (gas, hydro or water)
- Home purchase deed
- Rental/lease agreement
- Landline telephone bill (must provide complete document with legal address, recent date and parent’s name)
- The following documents are not accepted:
- Insurance documents
- Bank statements
- Driver’s license
- Cellphone bill
INFORMATION REQUIRED FOR CHILDREN TRANSFERRING FROM ANOTHER SCHOOL:
- Name and address of child’s previous school
- A copy of the child’s most recent report card (not applicable for kindergarten registration)
REGISTRATION PROCESS
NEW FAMILIES
Families who have never had a child enrolled in a FrancoSud school must create a SchoolEngage account to apply for registration.
- Create a SchoolEngage Account
Once the account is created, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. - Click on “Add Student” and then complete the information.
- Go to the “Students” tab and click on the registration form for the desired year.
- Complete the registration form including all supporting documents and submit it.
- You will receive a confirmation by e-mail that your registration request was received.

CURRENT FAMILIES
If you already have a child attending a FrancoSud school and you wish to register another child, you must access the SchoolEngage module via your PowerSchool account.
- In PowerSchool, click on SchoolEngage (bottom of the left list).
- Click on “Add Student” and then fill in the information.
- Go to the “Students” tab and click on the registration form for the desired year.
- Complete the registration form including all supporting documents and submit it.
- You will receive a confirmation by e-mail that your registration request was received.

If you do not have a PowerSchool account, here is the procedure to create one.

SCHOOL FEES
The FrancoSud School Board does not charge parents for basic school fees. However, its schools may charge parents fees to cover part of the costs related to optional courses, extracurricular or sports activities, or field trips, for example. In this case, the school will inform parents of the amount of fees to be paid and the deadline for payment.
It is possible to make an agreement to pay school fees or request an exemption. To do so, please complete the appropriate form and return it to your child’s school.
